Who We Are: Antaeus, French Black Metal Since 1993
Before you pick a design, here's a little about us: where we come from, who is in the band and which of our albums to start with.
Where are we from?
We come from Maisons-Laffitte, near Paris, France. The band started in 1993, at first as a side project, and we have played raw, fast black metal ever since.
Who is in the band?
- MkM: vocals, in the band since 1996, also known as the voice of Aosoth
- Set: guitar since 1999 (he first joined on bass)
MkM and Set have led Antaeus since 2003, with live musicians joining us on stage.
What do we sound like?
Fast, harsh and relentless. We play black metal with a hard edge of death metal, and we sum up our attitude in one slogan: anti God, anti music, anti you.
Which albums should you start with?
- Cut Your Flesh and Worship Satan (2000): re-recorded demo songs, as raw as it gets
- De Principii Evangelikum (2002)
- Blood Libels (2006): opens with "Rot" and includes "Words as Weapons"
- Condemnation (2016): our first album in ten years
Where does our name come from?
We share our name with Antaeus, a giant from Greek myth.
